I think it’s great that this series of podcasts has sought justice for Amy. Such a tragedy. After this 13th episode, a few questions linger with me. Has it been established that Dean Runkle lived on or near County Road 1181 in the winter of 1989-1990 and was seen by a number of people running or walking by where Amy’s body was found, as James Renner said? If so, by whom? Did the police verify that they told James Renner that if it could be established that Dean Runkle had in fact been at the Nature Center that he would “probably” be the killer? It seems unprofessional that they would even discuss details of the case with anyone outside law enforcement. In the Key West interview James Renner had with Runkle in which Runkle refused to say that he did not kill Amy, does Renner really not remember what Runkle said when James asked him directly Did you kill Amy Mihaljevic? Has James elaborated further on Runkle’s answer to that direct question elsewhere? Years ago, there was a website something like Dean Runkle Is Innocent set up to rebut the charges of James Renner. Is there another side to this aspect of the story, a defense or response by Runkle or does anyone defend Dean Runkle? Maybe there isn’t a defense, I don’t know.
